Happy New Year and a review of 2011 at Better Tuition (Part one)

The Better Tuition team would like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year.  Now seems to be a good time to look over the events of the past 12 months, and as you all know, there have been quite a few changes at 1, Crofts Bank Road!

Indeed there are too many to fit into one blog post, so we are starting off with our favourite topic and the reason we do what we do with such enthusiasm: our wonderful, hardworking students.  We could fill a book with our students’ achievements in 2011, but we have spared you that and distilled them into a few highlights:

1.  GCSE Results
Every single one of our GCSE candidates exceeded their school’s predicted grade.  There were A*s and As but we are especially proud of those students who needed a C to get into college and managed it with our help, despite starting off quite far from their goal.

2.  Reading Scores
Our students’ reading scores have been surpassing all expectations.  From one student who managed to increase her score by almost two years in just three months to the little Year One student who came to us in September unable to read a single thing and who has already reached an age-appropriate score, our results have amazed everyone.  Reading is such a hugely important part of life that I don’t think anything can beat the happy feeling of knowing we have set a child on the correct path where previously they have struggled.

3.  Maths
We have over 100 students who attend our professionally equipped tuition centre each week and a massive percentage of those arrive at Better Tuition telling us they ‘can’t do maths’ or that they ‘hate fractions’.  A few short weeks later, they all testify that a block of lessons at Better Tuition is the closest thing you can get to a magic maths spell.

4.  Entrance Exams
Over 80% of our 40+ group of entrance exam students passed at least one entrance exam.  Quite a lot passed all of them.  One passed both Urmston Grammar and Sale Grammar’s entrance exams with a perfect 100% score!  Compared to a borough-wide pass rate of just 25%, this represents a brilliant performance!

We have a clear assessment policy.  All students start their Better Tuition journey with a FREE assessment.  We set three targets and these are reviewed regularly.  We carry out a formal assessment every twelve weeks and provide parents/ carers with a written report.  Informal assessment is actually embedded in every lesson, but not in a way that your child will notice!

Finally we couldn’t have achieved these results without our wonderful team of teachers and without the support of our customers, the students’ parents/ carers.  We would like to thank you for giving us the opportunity to help build a better future for your child and we look forward to helping them achieve even more in 2012.

Not a customer yet?  Why not call us on 0161 748 3912 and book a FREE assessment.  Make 2012 the year your child shines and succeeds at school.
