Non-Verbal Reasoning (NVR) Question Types
NVR generally involves visual puzzles, rather than words (although sometimes number sequences are used). There are eight main NVR question types; the following examples are intended as an introduction and it should be noted that the questions in the exam will, in many cases, be more difficult.
1. Find the odd one out
Which of the following images is most different to the rest?
The answer is D (all the others are symmetrical).
2. Find the most similar
Which of the following images are exactly the same?
The answer is B and F.
The image on the right of the dashed line has been rotated to make which image on the left of the line?
The answer is D.
Which of the shapes on the right are a reflection of the shape on the left?
The answer is E.
Which of the shapes on the right will properly complete the sequence?
The answer is C.
Which of the nets could be folded to make the cube on the left?
The answer is C.
The answer is B (SQ): the code for a circle is S and the code for black is Q.
Work out how the first two shapes are related, then find the shape (A-E) that relates to the third shape in the same way.
The answer is C (the colours are inverted).
