These are examples of the kind of calculations your child will have to carry out in grammar school entrance exams. Our Handling Data Maths Masterclass will consolidate and extend your child’s knowledge and understanding of averages and pie charts.
Averages (mean, mode, median and range) are straightforward but many children make mistakes by confusing which is which. They may also run into difficulties when required to apply their knowledge in a problem-solving context. Our Maths E Masterclass: Handling Data aims to dispel misconceptions and widen understanding of practical applications of averages.
Pie charts are a source of confusion for many children. Many simply fail to grasp the concept of what a pie chart represents, or they lack the skills to convert between fractions and percentages, which are so essential when solving pie chart related problems. Our handling data masterclass will offer comprehensive coaching and support in overcoming any difficulties in these areas.
Our Handling Data Maths Masterclass will develop understanding and skills in the following areas:
§ The Calendar
§ Bar Charts, Tally Charts, Frequency Tables and Tally Charts
§ Conversion Graphs and Line Graphs
§ Venn Diagrams and Carroll Diagrams
§ Averages – mean, mode, median and range
§ Pie Charts
§ Bus timetables
§ Practical applications in a problem-solving context
Our Handling Data Maths Masterclass is suitable for children preparing to sit examinations in both GL Assessment and CEM format.
