These are examples of the kind of calculations your child will have to carry out in grammar school entrance exams. Our Maths C Masterclass: Algebra will deepen your child’s understanding of algebra and help him/ her confidently solve equations and formulate algebraic expressions.
Algebra can be daunting for some children. Having spent years learning how to calculate with numbers, suddenly the numbers are taken away and replaced by letters. It’s no wonder that many children feel lost in a sea of x and y.
Our Maths C Masterclass: Algebra will cover the following areas:

§ Solving equations
§ Writing and understanding algebraic expressions
§ Using algebra to solve number puzzles
§ Line graphs
§ The secrets of successful exam technique
§ Dealing with nerves
Children need to be able to solve simple equations for grammar school entrance exams. They will need to demonstrate that they can understand and identify algebraic expressions, as well as using algebra to solve number puzzles. Of all our masterclasses, our Maths C Masterclass: Algebra will broaden your child’s mathematical thinking most.
Our Maths C Masterclass: Algebra is suitable for children preparing to sit examinations in both GL Assessment and CEM format. It takes place on Thursday, 1st August from 1.30 – 4.30 pm and costs £50. This is a three-hour intensive session and places are limited to ten children. Advance booking is essential.
