Entrance Exam Core Skills Masterclasses in NVR, VR and Maths 2020 at Better Tuition this March

Is your Year 5 child preparing for grammar school entrance exams? You may find s/he needs some extra support in specific areas. Better Tuition is running Core Skills Masterclasses during the Easter holidays. Our unique masterclasses are tailor-made for maximum impact. We focus on key skills and techniques to support your child’s preparation for grammar school entrance exams, giving them the best chance of success. Each masterclass costs £55 and will run as follows:
Thursday, 30th March, 9.30 am – 12.30 pm: Core Skills Maths – £55
We will focus on the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) as well as related topics. We will work on multiplication tables recall and general recall of number bonds, as well as providing tips and tricks to make all of this much easier. We will also look at strategies for coping with practice exams. Children will set targets for future study.
This masterclass is suitable for children preparing for CEM and GL-format exams. This includes entrance exams for Altrincham Grammar School for Boys, Altrincham Grammar School for Girls, Loreto Grammar, Sale Grammar, St Ambrose College, Stretford Grammar and Urmston Grammar School as well as independent grammar school exams.

Monday, 30th March, 9.30 am – 12.30 pm: Core Skills NVR – £55
We will focus on the nine types of NVR (reflection, rotation, codes, analogies, similarities, difference, 3D NVR, sequences and matrices) as well as related topics. We will provide tips, tricks and killer strategies to make all of this much easier. We will also look at game plans for coping with practice exams.
This masterclass is suitable for children preparing for exams in both CEM and GL format. This includes Altrincham Grammar School for Boys, Altrincham Grammar School for Girls, Loreto Grammar, Sale Grammar, St Ambrose College, Stretford Grammar and Urmston Grammar School as well as independent grammar school exams.

Monday, 30th March, 1.30 pm – 4.30 pm: Core Skills Verbal Reasoning – £55
We will focus on decoding vocabulary and comprehension questions as well as familiarisation with different question types and strategies for approaching them.
This masterclass is suitable for children preparing for CEM format exams only. This includes Altrincham Grammar School for Girls, Sale Grammar, Stretford Grammar and Urmston Grammar School.

You may book in person or over the ‘phone by calling Paul Syrett or Christine McLaughlin on 0161 748 3912. Each masterclass costs £55 and your place is only booked when paid for. If you would like to book both masterclasses on Monday, 30th March, you may prefer to leave your child with us for lunch. There is a £5 charge for this and you must provide lunch for your child.

All masterclasses will take place at our tuition centre in the heart of Urmston. Our address is 1 Crofts Bank Rd (entrance is around the corner on Flixton Rd), Urmston, M41 0TZ. There is ample parking available 5 minutes walk away at Eden Square car park, M41 5BE.
